Durham Children Have a New Place to Play
Children in Durham have a new place to play -- thanks to the hard work of more than 200 volunteers. Volunteers from the City of Durham, Keep Durham Beautiful, ABC 11 and Disney, Kaboom! and area residents all joined forces on November 2nd to build a new playground at Oakwood Avenue Park. The playground's design is based on drawings by children who participated in a design day event earlier this fall. Volunteers helped to prep the site and equipment on October 31st, and installation was completed in less than eight hours on the build day. The project was made possible by a grant from Kaboom! with support provided by ABC11, Disney, and several local businesses.
